Joe gives time and/or money to numerous charities. For example, he sponsors a child through the Save The Children organization. He has given much time and money to local charities associated with the Catholic Church. He has given financial support to the Bethel Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church in Winnsboro, SC. He has contributed money to numerous charities that fight diseases such as cancer and M.S.

Joe Lyles has long been an active supporter of conservation efforts. He has contributed much free legal work to environmental protection related lawsuits.

He also has contributed time and money to educational institutions such as Furman University and Western Washington University.

Likewise, Joe Lyles has been active in many political campaigns, which he feels is a duty of all citizens in a free democracy.

He has also actively supported the Boy Scouts, especially Troop 521, and actively supports The Meyer Center for Special Children.
